Innovate UK logo

Innovate UK, will showcase innovative accessibility solutions funded through the 'Contracts for innocation: Accessible Information on Coaches' competition funded by the Department for Transport at the Bus & Coach Expo 2026

4 of the competing companies will be presenting their prototype technologies designed to provide accessible audio-visual passenger information on coaches, helping operators improve inclusivity and prepare for evolving accessibility regulations.

What Can you expect?

Contracts for Innovation: Accessible Information on Coaches - Funds companies to develop affordable hardware and software systems that provide audible and visible passenger information on coaches.

These systems are designed to help operators comply with the Accessible Information Regulations, which require vehicles to provide audio and visual announcements about routes and stops, improving accessibility for all passengers, particularly disabled people.

The solutions are especially relevant for rail replacement coaches, which often lack the onboard passenger information systems commonly found on buses.

What Innovate UK is doing at BCE 2026

  • Showcase four companies that have received innovation contracts through the competition
