Floating Bus Stops - Why The New Government Statutory Guidance On Floating Bus Stop Fails Blind People

23 Apr 2026
Bus & Coach Leaders Forum | Hall 4
Bus & Coach Leaders Forum
The session will focus on why floating bus stops do not work for blind people. A film ‘Buses are our lifeline’ will be shown which captures the lived experiences of blind people that are unable to use their local bus services to get where they need to go, due to the introduction of floating bus stops. Evidence will also be presented to illustrate why the new Government Guidance on floating bus stops as part of the Bus Services Act 2025 does not resolve the serious safety and accessibility concerns raised by blind people about these types of bus stops. This will be followed by a Q & A session.
